Newspapers
The following area newspapers are often requested for the placement of death notices, obituaries, cards of thanks and in memoriams. Please note that the death notice itself is generally submitted by the funeral home directly. Some newspapers will only accept death notices from the funeral home.

CARDS OF THANKS
This is an insertion in the paper where you thank people that helped you during your time of need. Typically people thank their Doctors, Nurses, clergy, pallbearers and friends.
OBITUARIES
This details the personal data, background, funeral details as well as the survivors of the deceased. Obituaries in the Brockville Recorder and Times may be submitted for publication and for a nominal fee.
IN MEMORIAMS
Often to commemorate the anniversary of death, or the deceased's birth date, this generally states the deceased's name and the date of passing. It is not uncommon for survivors to include a short poem that fits the occassion.
DEATH NOTICE
The death notice gives detail about where the person passed on, names of family members surviving and those pre-deceased, the location and date of the visitation and funeral, final resting place and the family's suggestion of charities for memorial donations. Charged by the line.
DEADLINES
Our local daily newspaper, The Recorder and Times, will accept a death notice for publication from Tuesday to Friday up to 5:30 pm on the day prior to publication. The deadline for Saturday's newspaper is 1:30 pm Friday. There is no Sunday or Monday paper. You may not book a specific date to run an obituary unless it is placed as a paid item. NOTE: These deadlines are sometimes adjusted by the paper without notice.
